Update on the State of Styles

So first of all, we've renamed the CSS class for the tags modules, from module-categories, module-categories_multilevel, module-categories_cloud to module-tags_list, module-tags_multilevel, module-tags_cloud.

Partial list of other things that changed (I'll be editing this a bit later to include some that were left out since I last updated):

  • Add ?style=mine to any system-generated links off the page when you are viewing any journal with ?style=mine

  • More text options in the wizard

  • Fix metadata labels

  • Use friends_title appropriately, instead of always global_title

Also, I know some of you have noticed that for a while, on all journal styles, the contextual popup menu has no background. There is a fix for that in the works, that should also go live onto the site right about now.

For those keeping track, these bugfixes and tweaks went live on the site very recently:

  • Fix awkward wrapping of horizontal lists by adding one extra space to the source; may cause some things to be spaced more widely apart by one character (all layouts)

  • Added "no subject" text to the window titles of entries with no subjects (all layouts)

  • Added width and height to usericons on all views (all layouts)

  • Fixed layout type selection at the bottom of Select Journal Style (Negatives, Transmogrified)

  • Fix "-" handling for linklist (all layouts)

  • when given a blank background color, the generate_background_css() convenience function now correctly converts it to "transparent" (all layouts)

  • Clarify that the Tags module may only show the most used x tags (all layouts)

  • Fixed issues with OpenID user's icons in comments dropping out of place (Transmogrified)

  • can get the allpics.bml URL for comment posters (previously, OpenID users had no link. Incidentally, this is what fixed the Transmogrified issue). For those more familiar with the guts of S2, this was done by moving the userpic_listing_url to UserLite

  • Moved awkwardly-placed multiform select checkbox in comments to a better location (Negatives)

  • Remove unnecessary body tags (Transmogrified)

  • Tweak CSS which was formatting all h3s in entries to be the same as title (core2base)

  • Tweak CSS which meant colors weren't being applied correctly to module titles (core2base)

  • Changed "Tell a Friend" title/alt text to "Tell Someone" (all layouts)

  • Changed the title when there are no entries from "Error" to "No content" (Zesty)

And we have a few new features, including some much-requested improvements to the page summary module!

  • Improved page summary module -- displays number of comments on hover, option to display as text instead, readpage shows poster names (all layouts)

  • Added standard presentation options (number of items per page, customized comment pages) (Zesty)

  • Add ability to customize images and backgrounds via properties (Negatives)

  • Add control to display tags page as list, cloud, or multilevel. Previously, you could only have the multilevel option. This accidentally made the default a plain list, instead of the original multilevel list, which may surprise some people going into their tags page. We're sorry; we already have a fix in to default back to multilevel, just need to wait for it to go live on site. If you don't want to wait, you can set it for yourself (negatives, tabula rasa; transmogrified is upcoming)

And finally, we've renamed the core2base style to "Tabula Rasa" (I love the name!). The current theme is blank as a slate; I'll let the more front-endy folks take care of explaining what we have in mind for it, over the next couple of days.

Getting some slightly odd behavior on the friends_title in TR. When there is no title entered via Customize, the header says only "Reading" in H2. When a title is entered, it is repeated, once in H1 and once in H2, and "Reading" goes away.

Man, so many of the things here are the things that were making me scratch my head when coding, and now that the fixes are out I THINK I WILL LOVE YOU FOREVER. ♥ Seriously - thanks for all the hard work!

I did that! Not quite my first patch, but the first that was more than just cosmetic. I'm a dreamsheep fan as you can see from my icon, so it makes me ecstatically happy to know that my Page Summary patch is worth so much enthusiasm. Squee!

For editing the Tabula Rasa theme - is there a listing of all the settings for what is on the page somewhere that I haven't found yet? I mean something that lists all the divs or other parts of the page that can be edited. I'm sure I could look at the code and get most of it but if there was a complete list somewhere that would be awesome.

We're still working on that, but you can see the ongoing efforts here: http://wiki.dwscoalition.org/notes/S2_CSS

OK, maybe it's something I did, but I can't see the new text options (I'm using Transmogrified). Or are only the dw-free ones live in this push?

Yay! module-tags makes sooo much more sense than module-categories. :)

But did something recently change with the default userpic in the userprofile module? (Say...since Saturday night?) Mine stopped showing up in the layout for [personal profile] notsopeaceful, and I thought maybe I had unchecked the option to display it, but that's not it.

Oh, never mind, I see it now! It went from module-photo to module-section-one .userpic.

(I think this is the right place to bring this up...)

In Transmogrified, while browsing entries in day view the navigation links (previous/next) on the day of the earliest entry are not contained within a list. That is to say, the "next" link is inside a li tag so it's a list item, but that li is not within the usual ul.

You can see it even on this community's earliest entry page.

Caused me a bit of grief today. :/

I hope I am allowed to post this here...

When I go to change or edit my styles, the Select and Customize style pages come up with "Sorry, there was a problem. " on them... Is this a known problem?
