"Name our Style" voting follow-up

So, ideas are in from the "Name our Style" challenge to find a name that reflected how basic the style is while being powerful enough to let the designers go wild when submitting styles. It's time for you to vote, so please mark your five favourites. If you check any more, they may get discarded in the spreadsheet. Instead, send your friends over to help boost your favourites.

Because the list was a manageable size, I generated the poll using all suggestions without checking their viability, and some of them (as pointed out in comments) have religious connotations which make them ineligible for use.

Poll #140 Style
This poll is closed.

Please check up to five of your favourite options from the styles below. Note that if you choose more than five, those choices might be discarded.

I used one of my votes for Dreamscapes, but I really wish Dreamscape (singular) was an option. The plural version seems kinda awkward.

Ditto. I LOVE the dreamscape(s) idea, but I think it works better in the singular.

Thirding this; I don't mind Dreamscapes, but I prefer Dreamscape.

I agree with this.  "Dreamscape" like "Canvas" - "Canvases" would sound similarly incorrect.

Singular would definitely be the way to go.

+1 to all the above reasons for making it singular.

Another +1 for the singular version.

I also voted for "Dreamscape(s)" because I love the idea, but would like the singular form better. So add me to the count.

This.

I hate to raise this, but "Zen" in names makes me twitchy, given that it's actually some people's religion; it's sort of problematic to use it as a synonym for "stylishly bare".

("Asana" and "Ashtanga" may raise similar problems, given that yoga's a spiritual practice for many people.)

*breathes a sigh of relief*

Thanks for listening. Obviously I'm sure it wasn't intentional on anyone's part, and I know that they're used colloquially all the time, but I wanted to flag it up because I'm guessing I'm not the only one who twitches.

("Dreamcatcher"/"Dreamcatching" is the other one I just noticed, dreamcatchers being specific to Native American tradition.)

...funny, I was thinking the same thing about the dreamcatcher one.

"Dreamcatcher" irritates me more than the zen option but I'd srsly prefer neither and I suspect "dreamcatcher" would provoke a significant reaction (probably including the word "fail" somewhere in its vicinity).

ETA: The account which suggested "dreamcatcher" (here) is notably empty:

You're welcome. It's easy to switch off one's critical faculties when aggregating data. I appreciate your response.

Ha, the Zen made me twitch too! I've heard way too many lectures from my Japanese religions teacher not to react to it. :)

(This is way late, but oh well.)

I really like dreamscape too, without the plural. Voted for the plural nevertheless.
I am not sure, however, that I like the ones with any religious undertones (no matter which), although they are very pretty names.

I'd like to add another vote for Dreamscape rather than Dreamscapes.

S1 is not available on Dreamwidth and almost-certainly never will be - "Maintaining and documenting S1 is a lot of work that we would rather put into updating and fixing the newer S2 system. This will never be available on Dreamwidth." to quote the wiki. (http://www.dreamwidth.org/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=10)

I suspect you should try [community profile] dreamwidthlayouts or [community profile] mintyapple.

Both of those communities state very clearly in their profiles that they are not help communities. I'm about ready to start one that is a help community, because there's going to be a big need for one as all the unpaid users discover S2.

Second this! I would love a help comm where I could ask questions. If you don't mind, and because I haven't found the answer to this anywhere, I have one now: does Transmogrified have a free text box? Because I would love one to put some stuff in.

I think Flex isn't a suitable name for a website style because it is already the name of website-related software. Adobe Flex is "a collection of technologies released by Adobe Systems for the development and deployment of cross-platform rich Internet applications based on the Adobe Flash platform".
